If you notice a small gouge, punch mark, or check-mark-shaped impression near the barrel extension on your Ballistic Advantage barrel, there is no cause for concern. This is an intentional quality control mark applied during the manufacturing process.
What does the mark mean?
As one of the final steps in Ballistic Advantage's quality control process, each barrel is hand marked by a technician using a punch tool. This unique mark serves as a visual indication that the barrel has successfully completed several critical inspection and testing procedures.
What has been verified?
The punch mark indicates the barrel has completed Ballistic Advantage's final quality control procedures, including:
- Final finishing and coating processes.
- Headspace verification.
- Test firing and inspection.
Where is the mark located?
The mark is typically found near the barrel extension and often resembles a small check mark or punch impression. Because it is applied by hand, the exact appearance may vary slightly from barrel to barrel.
Will it affect performance?
No. The mark is purely a quality control identifier and has no effect on accuracy, reliability, durability, safety, or barrel life.
In fact, the presence of the mark indicates the barrel has completed Ballistic Advantage's inspection and testing procedures before leaving the factory.
Is my barrel damaged?
No. This marking is intentional and should not be confused with shipping damage, machining defects, or product blemishes.
If you have concerns about a mark that appears significantly different from the quality control mark described above, please open a support ticket and include photographs so our team can review the barrel and assist you.
