How Do I Determine Which Glock® Generation I Own?

The easiest way to identify your Glock® generation is by looking at a few key features on the frame and slide.

  • Gen 3 pistols have finger grooves on the front of the grip and a single recoil spring assembly.

  • Gen 4 pistols also have finger grooves but feature a larger, reversible magazine release and a dual recoil spring assembly.

  • Gen 5 pistols do not have finger grooves and include an ambidextrous slide stop lever on most models.

You can also check your pistol's model markings, serial number information, and factory features to help confirm the generation.

Important: Not all aftermarket parts are compatible across generations. Always verify your Glock® generation before purchasing slides, barrels, triggers, or internal components.
